METHODS FOR STUDYING OF THE NEWEST STAGE DEFORMATION

Abstract

This course covers newest strains of different types (folding, faulting) and rank (from large systems and zones of uplifts and depressions to the individual folds and faults), their morphology and structural features in orogenic and platform areas. The newest methods of studying the deformation of the lithosphere, including: cartographic, historical-geological, geodesics, geomorphological, geochemistry, bathymetric, geophysical, aerial and space methods are under consideration. Particular attention is paid to the use of geomorphological methods to solve applied problems, namely the search for mineral deposits, identifying structures, looking for oil and gas; issues that arise during the engineering-geological surveys, etc. Practical lessons devoted to the complex structural and geomorphological interpretation of the topographic maps, aerial and satellite imagery, the construction of the geomorphological profiles using GIS technologies.
